PicLens

Everyone loves Google, its more of a second brain for us...apart from its web search, one can also search images using it. While surfing, I found out a plugin that modifies the looks of the image search..have a look

The image searching now is more fun because of the it allows for the "Flow" of the images (second pic). Just click anywhere on the screen and move the move the mouse left or right. If you click on a image you see the image magnified (like shown in the 3rd pic) and when you double click, the image will fill your screen (4th pic) and their will be buttons on the bottom side(which need no explanation)

To have this browsing experience, you need to use Mozilla Firefox as web browser (ppl using IE stop reading here!!). Visit this url : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5579
Click "Add to Firefox", restart firefox and you are ready to use it!! Now head for Google Image search and click on a small blue play button which appears the image once you move your mouse over the images shown in the search. Alternatively you can also click on blue play button just below the 'minimize' button of the window. Have fun while searching for the images (A good high speed broadband recommended.)

Record The Live Streaming Muzic

If you are one of those who like to listen music online (streaming audios) but hate the fact that you cannot download that music, then this article is for you. The process is simple, it just requires the website (obviously) like http://www.hott93.com/ or www.live365.com, a web browser like Firefox or IE and finally a software that will record the live streaming music and save it to hard disk.

'Freecorder' is one of these software that can be found on www.freecorder.com. Just download and install the software (its FREE) and you are all set to record your music. During the installation, install it on both the browsers (if you have) and it also asks to set 'freecorder' as default search engine (I prefer Google hence did not go for this option). After installation, it will open up a survey page...fill it if you have time and press "Continue" else click on "Quick Start". Near the address bar in the browser, you can now see the Recorder Toolbar, with buttons like Start, Stop, Record, its search bar, etc.

Now make a dash for your favorite website. Once you have selected your station and pressed the play button on the webpage, click on the record button the toolbar. A small window will open and show some wave kinda thing. It will look something like the image on the left, if its recording.

If you do not see any kind of wave. then you need to change the settings. Open the settings (click on the "Settings" button in the toolbar) and select the option "Record from freecorder input audio driver" (I selected all the 3 options). In this window, you can also specify where do you want to save the file and in which format. Try it again after changing the settings if it did not work out the first time.

To listen to what you have just recorded, press the stop button on the recorder and then press the play button in the freecorder toolbar. It will take you to the directory where your recording was saved. Double click and listen to the song you just recorded.

Computing Basics 1

If you did a Google search, you would probably find thousands of forums discussing the same topic. But still there are many who face problems with their computers. This post could help them if they read and followed it.
For having a computer running problem free, there are certain things that must be ensured so that it problems do not crop up.

  • First and foremost it is most important to have an antivirus installed in the computer. Choices are numerous; it could be free antivirus like AVG, Avast etc. and paid ones like Norton, MacAfee, NOD32, Panda (of course there are ways to get them free also) and the list goes on…Its important to have a good antivirus (try googling, if you wanna no which is a good antivirus) but more important is to actively use it. Always scan a pendrive or files downloaded from internet BEFORE opening it.
  • Next most important thing which needs to be installed it a Firewall. A Firewall blocks all the unsolicited connections to your computer. What it means it that it prevents anybody hacking into your computer and any software (spyware) being installed into your computer without your knowledge.
  • Spywares do not cause much harm to the system but can be very annoying. It’s a good idea to have Anti-spyware installed. Few of the names are Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc.
  • Its equally important to update these softwares (antivirus & Anti-spyware) for new definitions & signatures and also update Windows (that’s only if you are using a genuine Windows).
  • You can also try Registry optimization softwares like Registry Mechanic which ensures that Windows Registry remains error free. But these softwares are absolutely optional.
  • Finally have a scan scheduled every week to ensure that your pc remains virus and spyware free.
